A : He was the son of Zeus, the most powerful; of the gods, and Alcmene.
Q : Who was St George?
A : He was a brave soldier. etc

Hercules was very strong.
He was the son of Zeus.
St George killed the dragon.
He was a soldier.

Hercules tried to cut off one of the Hydra’s heads but two more appeared in its place.
Hercules managed to cut off eight of the heads.
Hercules grabbed the ninth head and buried it under a big rock.
Hercules killed the Hydra.
St George travelled a lot until he reached Libya.
St George decided to save the princess.
St George tried to kill the dragon with his spear but failed.
He tried again but he didn’t succeed. In the end, he managed to kill it.

Hercules (who was also known as Heracles), was the son of Zeus and Alcmene, the wife of Amphitryon. As a father, Zeus had great hopes for his offspring. Hercules could only be a champion in his service to his family and the world.
Hercules demonstrated his strength right from birth. He choked the serpents that had been sent to him by the jealous Hera.Hercules was educated by Linus, the musician. He learned literature and music but was found to be a mischievous student. When Linus wanted to beat him one day, Hercules grabbed a stool and hit Linus with it, killing him. At his trial, Hercules was acquitted on the grounds that he was only defending himself. Amphitryon feared his adopted son (most likely due to his strength) and sent him to a Scythian cattleman, Teutarus, who taught Hercules archery.
At the age of eighteen, Hercules spent fifty days trying to kill the lion of Cithaeron. Each night he returned to the palace of King Thespius. Because King Thespius wanted to have Hercules father his grand-children, he put one of his fifty daughters in Hercules' bed each night. Hercules had fifty sons.
Eurystheus sent Hercules on a mission over his twelve years of servitude, a mission with twelve labours. On his mission of twelve labours, he strangled the Nemean lion and made himself armour from the hide. Secondly, he cut off the many heads of the Lernaean Hydra and brought back the enormous Erymanthian Boar alive. With his arrows, he shot down the many birds of the Stymphalian Marsh who raided the crops and killed men. Hercules retrieved the golden apples from the Garden of the Hesperides, challenging the giant, Antaeus, the Pygmies and the dragon, Ladon, and freeing Prometheus on the way. Lastly, from Hades, he brought Cerberus, the dog who defended the gates of Hades.
When he returned back to Eurystheus, he brought back the results of each labour to Eurystheus.
It is impossible to list all the feats that Hercules achieved. Hercules travelled everywhere, including the depths of hell. He stood up to the forces of a different kind and succeeded in injuring Hades and Hera with his arrows. Because of his feats, he was considered a superhuman, conceivably already a god.

He started singing in 1977 and seven years later joined the group ‘Menudo’.
In 1990, he moved to New York. At the age of twenty, he released his first album.

Vassily Kandinsky was an artist and one of the most important painters of the 20th
century. He was the first artist to paint modern abstract paintings.
He is best known for the unusual and beautiful shapes and colours in his paintings. ‘Composition VII’ and ‘Composition X’ are Kandinsky’s most famous paintings.
Fyodor Dostoyevsky was a great author famous for works such as’ Crime and Punishment’ and ‘The Brothers Karamazov’. His works had a lasting effect on
the way people thought in the 20th century. There is a statue of him in Ormsk.
Leo Tolstoy was a famous novelist, dramatist and philosopher. His most famous
works are ‘War and Peace and ‘Anna Karenina’. There are two museums on him,
one in Moscow and one in his birthplace Yasnaya Polyana.
Yuri Gagarin was the first cosmonaut. He was the first man in space and the first
to orbit the Earth. He was a Russian hero. There is a huge monument to him in
Moscow.
Rudolf Nureyev was one of the greatest male ballet dancers of the 20th century.
He was the star of the Kirov Ballet and an international star and choreographer.
He also appeared in a number of films. He died in 1993 at the age of 54.
